Features

Core features

A guided tour of what Timber does, grouped by what you're trying to get done.

Write and publish#

  • Pages and posts with four editors: Simple, HTML, Coder (Monaco) and Builder.
  • Drafts, scheduling and live previews at phone, tablet and desktop sizes.
  • Categories, excerpts, cover images, an RSS feed and a "load more" blog.
  • Page folders, nested pages, per-page header/footer overrides, theme sections, a homepage picker.
  • Text view to edit just the words of a designed HTML page.

Design#

  • The Playground: several versions of your site, edited with generated forms and live preview, compared side by side, shared by private link, switched with one click.
  • Three starter themes (Birch, Ebony, Ghost), plus theme forking and a documented theme contract.
  • Branding: logo, favicon, colours, social links — applied across themes.
  • Menus with dropdowns, mega menus and audience rules.
  • Blocks: global CSS, custom headers/footers, shortcodes, reusable HTML.
  • Page-header bands with image, gradient, blend modes and height.
  • CSS libraries: Tailwind or Bootstrap on demand.

Collect and communicate#

  • Form builder: multi-step, conditional logic, file uploads, merge tags, autoresponders, routing, webhooks, schedules and entry limits.
  • Inbox with spam, stars, replies and per-form stats.
  • Email via PHP mail, SMTP, Gmail or Brevo, with branded templates and a sent log.
  • Integrations: Google Analytics, Brevo, Slack and Zoho Desk (each a small file you can read).

Be found#

  • SEO fields and SERP previews, canonical URLs, Open Graph, Twitter cards, JSON-LD.
  • sitemap.xml, robots.txt, RSS.
  • Redirects and short links with hit counts.
  • A branded 404 (or send visitors home).

Respect visitors#

  • Cookie banner with Google Consent Mode v2, consent log and consent-gated scripts.
  • Data-request form and policy templates.
  • No third-party requests by default; system fonts only.

Run the site#

  • Media library, file manager, Monaco code editor.
  • Data browser with JSON validation and automatic file backups; export/import as a zip.

Build on it#

  • Plain PHP you can read, themes with generated editors, small integration files, a documented architecture, and a clear extension path.
