Site settings

Maintenance & coming soon#

Site Settings → Maintenance puts a holding page in front of visitors while you work. Logged-in admins still see the real site.

  • Mode: Coming soon or Maintenance, each with your own title and message.
  • Countdown: set a launch date and the page counts down, then reloads itself at zero.
  • Visitors get HTTP 503 with Retry-After, so search engines treat it as temporary.
  • Preview it any time with /?preview=coming_soon while logged in.
  • Redirects and robots.txt keep working.

The holding page is self-contained — no external fonts, scripts or images.

Site notice#

A thin announcement bar at the top of every page: message, optional link, colour, a gentle flash animation, dismissible by visitors, a start and end schedule, and either all pages or only the ones you list (with /* wildcards).

Redirects and 404s#

  • Manage 301/302 redirects and short links under Redirects (see SEO & sitemaps).
  • Choose what unknown URLs do: branded 404 page or send visitors home.

Branding options#

In Design → Branding there's also a switch to disable text selection on the public site (form fields still work; the admin is never affected).

The admin bar#

When you're logged in, a floating bar on the public site shows the version you're viewing and offers Edit, Playground and Make live. In Admin Tools → Admin Bar choose always-on, auto-hide (hot corner) or off, and which corner.

Your profile and password#

Your profile (bottom of the sidebar) changes your name, email and password — you must enter the current password. Sessions expire after 8 hours idle or 7 days total. Administrators manage everyone else under Users (Users & roles).
